Project Title: Enhancing Language Acquisition and Content Mastery: Utilizing Children's Literature to Support the Educational Needs of Emergent Bilingual Students.
Project Description: To develop and implement a program aimed at supporting the educational needs of
beginner ELL students through the strategic integration of picture books.
Example: Soumi used a recent Caldecott-winning book, Watercress by Andrea Wong, to help her students to
analyze how the theme of cultural identity, family, and acceptance are presented in the text by engaging in
reading comprehension strategies, including making connections, inferencing, and summarizing.
